ABOUT ME
Gabriel Valentin Moyer
I was born in Cambridge, Ontario, but prior to college made the long move with my family to Azilda, Ontario, a small town close to Sudbury to be closer to extended family. Artistically, Sudbury and the surrounding area has been a huge inspiration to me, along with my experiences camping across Ontario, the East Coast and a brief period in Seaford (UK).
An alumni of the Sudbury Secondary School Media Arts program, the Foundations of Animation and Illustration program and the Animation program at Algonquin College, I feel confident in my ability to learn and grow, as I feel both these programs have truly shaped me as an artist. I'm eager to learn more from both working in the industry, and speaking to professionals. My main goal with animation is to help people keep that inner curious child alive, to inspire creativity, and to bring comfort and joy to others (and Build-A-Bear, where I've worked during my entire college college career, has certainly helped me keep that want alive). Going forwards, I'm looking for work in layout and illustration, no matter the location. Seeing new places and gaining new inspiration through life motivates me, and moving for work would be a great way to gain that visual library beyond what I know currently.
Outside of work, I'm quite the houseplant enthusiast! Practical skills are quite important to me, and doing work where I see direct results. In the summers, I grow vegetables and flowers off of my balcony, both for colour, and to cook. Floral arrangements and cooking are both hands on, and if there's anything I know about myself, it's that I'm best when I'm applying and learning through experience.

BEAR BUILDER | SEPTEMBER - DECEMBER 2022
ANIMATION (ADVANCED DEGREE) | ALGONQUIN COLLEGE
PROJECTED GRADUATION - APRIL 2025

In this role I worked with machinery to stuff bears, learned to stitch and mend plush products quickly and efficiently, aided in the opening and closing of the store, informed customers of ongoing promotions while still maintaining a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, and paid attention to small details in order to spot issues with bear quality and possible safety risks in store. In this role I received, unloaded, and placed plant deliveries to the company client, Home Depot, without direct manager supervision. As a part of my work, I would create engaging floral displays with my artistic (colour theory, size/shape variety) and marketing knowledge while still complying with company standards. I would also maintain overstock and the health of annual plants, repeatedly lift 50ibs and over, and inform customers on plant care such as light and water needs. Where appropriate, I would also help advise on flower pairings and placements.
